CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: William Kaplan. He's also called Billy or Wiccan (code name)
Age: 16-17-ish. Let's hope Marvel aged him unlike Pokémon did to Ash.
Canon: Marvel Comics.
Canon Point: End of the Children's Crusade Arc
Species: A mutant, but he looks pretty human.
Gender: Male.
Background: marvel wikia
Appearance: he's the boy getting hugged and looking happy.
Personality: Billy used to be your average teenager, sort of. Okay, maybe not. Billy Kaplan never was one to exactly to fit in. Being a gay Jewish teenager who exactly isn’t the most attractive, popular, and physical strong got you picked on quite a bit. It doesn’t help Billy is really into super heroes, Norse mythology, video games, and most things deemed geeky by his peers. Billy got used to being picked on, but then one day he got powers, and with that, his personality and life changed forever.
Despite being one of the strongest mutants alive, Billy is rather humble and doesn’t abuse his powers extensively (redecorating a concrete basement and dressing your friends, brother, and grandfather in Von Trapp clothing does not count). To put it simply, he is a good guy, but of course he has his faults. Billy does believe he can make a difference in the world, and he pretty much does by being one of the Young Avengers. He looked up to the Avengers for many years*, even picking a favorite. He usually is respectful of the rules, but he doesn’t mind bending them or breaking them if he sees a positive outcome. He also doesn’t mind lying to his parents once in a while, too, especially if it means not getting grounded. He’s a good student, alright, he deserves a break once in a while.
* As of the civil war arc and the Children’s Crusade arc, there are tensions between him and the Avengers. He still does respect most of them, but at the same time he thinks they’re being extremely unfair about the Scarlet Witch and his powers. After he found the Scarlet Witch, it the Avengers took her side over the X-Men.
Billy is for the most part a team player, helping the other Young Avengers as they ‘save the day’. He does have his moments where he'll get caught ip in his emotions and get caught up on the moment (see basically the entire Children's Crusade). He usually works alongside with Hulking, who happens to be his best friend and boyfriend. Friendship and family is important to him. He is very supportive of his friends, helping them through their interpersonal issues. He’s the most supportive with his boyfriend, who after discovering his true heritage, was put through an emotional roller-coaster. He’s not the most outgoing, keeping to himself for the most part, but he isn’t super shy, too. He’s more comfortable around his friends, obviously, but with strangers he can be a little awkward, keeping mostly to himself. He still is respectful, being well mannered and polite around them. When it comes to family, his biological family has been supportive and loving towards him. He cares about them, but at the same time he is curious about his other mother, to say, the Scarlet Witch. He has spent a good deal of time looking for her, wanting to ask her various questions about his powers and about who he is. When he finally gets to meet her, he feels at peace within himself, and seems to be the only one that believes in her. He convinces (some don't buy it) that she is innocent, and once she remembers him, he finally feels redemption of sorts.
Billy’s faults are that of most teenagers. Sometimes he follows his heart too much, letting his emotions guide him rather than his brain. He takes on too much responsibility at times, getting himself into trouble. When he becomes too emotional, his powers go out on control and can be extremely dangerous. While he has gotten better at using his powers, he’s far from being able to master and understand them all. Billy can also focus too much on the goal rather than the path getting there as shown in the Children’s Crusade. He does have a good head on his shoulders, but he isn't a super genius. Now if only he started to use his head a bit more, huh? At the end of the arc, which one of his teammates dies, and the Young Avengers is dissolved. He becomes heavily depressed and spends his mostly by himself (Bella Swan, anyone?), staring at a window and feeling like things were his fault. Eventually Teddy does snap it out of him, but it goes to show he took the blame for his teammate's death and blamed himself for things falling apart. He doesn't say everything he feels, and he did a lot of growing up in the last arc. Being told he is officially a part of the Avengers also helped, as deep down, he didn't know how to exactly "stop" being a super hero.
To sum up Billy’s personality in a few points:
• He is pretty much your average teenage nerd despite stupid crazy powers
• He is driven strongly by his desires
• He’s a good guy, but sometimes his emotions get in the way of things.
• He's mature for his age, but at the same time he isn't extremely cynical and or jaded. He can even be naive at times... sometimes even too sarcastic.
• He tries to be responsible and independent.
• He’s a geek, a fanboy, even. He really likes super hero stuff + norse mythology (fyi, his original code name used to be Asgardian referring to Thor!)
• He’s not outgoing, but not shy. Once he gets to know a person, he feels more comfortable around them.
• He uses his powers for good.
• He cares about his friends, family, and boyfriend a lot.
• He's grown up a lot due to the death of his teammate, Cassie. He truly understands the sacrifice heroes have to make now.
• Technically he's engaged to his boyfriend
Powers/Abilities: To put it simply, Billy has ridiculous powers. Like the Scarlet Witch, he has the ability to alter reality simply by casting a spell/chanting what he wants to happen. He is a mutant and warlock according to Marvel.
His powers include:
• Reality Warping: as described above, if he wants it, he can probably make it happen. The range of how powerful this ability can be is unknown.
• Teleporation: He can teleport himself pretty much anywhere, even if he hasn't been to that place before.
• Electrokinesis/Pyrokinesis: He can create attacks/spells based on fire and lightning. He mostly uses lightning based attacks/spells, manipulating that element more often.
• Flight: He can hover/fly.
• Healing/Spell Casting: He can heal others using spells/reality warping. Spell casting can help him do various abilities from telepathy, locating people, astral protection, levitating, and illusions.
• Energy: He can create force fields to block attacks. He can also form these energy shields that levitate/carry/fly people.
Since his powers are crazy stupid, I don't mind if he loses all of them.
Inventory: Since he's about to leave for the Avenger's Mansion, he probably just has a change of clothes and a picture of Teddy.
Type Affinity: Lightning Magic, Light Magic, and Heat Magic
Wand: In early appearances, he has a wooden staff.
Other: go pro or go home.
